The Cumberland Bandits Jr. Hockey Club wrapped-up a two week break – allowing Bandits players to spend the Christmas holidays with their families.
On Friday, January 6th, the Cumberland Bandits were visiting the top seated Embrun Panthers. General Manger, Richard Julien, had this to say about the game: “The Christmas break made for a choppy game – more individual plays vs. team plays”. Bandits goaltender Ryan Morrison made key saves throughout the three periods. Embrun scored a power play goal late in the third period to make it 3-3. Fans were getting ready for overtime. However, Kurtis Craney-Plouffe scored with 3.6 seconds left in the third period – taking a shot from the corner behind the Embrun net to have it deflect off Embrun’s defencemen skate. Bandits won the game 4-3.
The next day, Papineauville was visiting Cumberland at the Ray Friel arena. We witnessed more team plays throughout the game. “Tonight, Bandits players faced a hot goalie from Papineauville” said head coach, Bob Paquette. Bandits came from behind to tie the game - forcing overtime and shootout. It was Papineauville that edged the Bandits after six shooters. Bandits lost the game 4-3 but earned 1 point for tying the game in regulation time.
The Bandits next home game is Saturday June 14th – Ray Friel Pad #1. The Eagles of St-Isidore will be the visiting team. Game starts at 7:30 pm.
Go Bandits Go!!!
