Bandits Lose Home Opener

The Cumberland Bandits kicked off their home schedule of the season with a 2-0 loss to last year’s league finalist North Dundas Rockets led by League MVP Bryden van Kessel.   The Bandits came out flying dominating play in the first half of the first period.  They did everything expect put the puck past Goalie Jason Buma who was outstanding.

“I was satisfied with the effort of the team, we just could not get an early goal and then I believe our players got a bit frustrated.  I give credit to North Dundas they weathered the early storm and then settle in to play a solid game.   We had several regulars out of the lineup but that is not an excuse as most teams go through the same thing. “We had solid defensive play and great goaltenders” said Head Coach Dale Murdoch.

“We had a lot of opportunities early and did not capitalised and they did when they had a chance late in the period.  We have to play 60 minutes in this league especially against a good team like North Dundas” said Bandits Assistant Captain Nezz Bédard.

The Bandits will now try to put this behind them as in less than 24 hours they have to head to St-André Avelin to face the very hot Papineau Vikings at 3:30 on Sunday.  The next home game for the Bandits will be Saturday, October 7th at 7:30pm when the Metcalfe Jets come to the Ray Friel Centre for the first time in their History.
